2021 Lockdown - Oikos Working Arrangements

I wonder how last night's lockdown news has affected you?

I, personally, was prepared for a few weeks but not a whole term! But I support the rules. I think it's the right thing to do. If a little late.

I'm writing with my new working arrangements. The short version is:

• I will be working a "wrap around" day of a few hours in the morning and a few hours late afternoon/evening. So expect me to contact you at odd times, and to not respond in core hours of 9am - 3pm.
• My hours are being cut in a big way in order to cover childcare.
• I may spend some time catching up at weekends where necessary, though I'm hoping to protect these as family and rest time where possible.
• Projects will be prioritised, by both importance and deadline - some deadlines may need to be extended.
• The situation will remain in flux and subject to change. There may be ways I can claw back working hours into my days. I will keep you informed.

The reason I need to work like this is that my wife is actually the main source of income in our household, and she has to get her 34 hours in for the National Trust.

My work is, by its very nature, more flexible. And so I am homeschooling to protect my wife's core hours.

This will be a tough time for all of us. Everyone was so gracefully and forgiving in the first lockdown, and I hope that we shall all rally round again for the coming weeks and months.
