Continuing our partnership with Hands Up, the Integral Mission website was delivered for a team at International Aid Charity Tearfund, who curate the site along with some international partners who are part of the Integral Mission initiative.
The Integral Mission site is a curated collection of content and resources that exists to encourage more churches all over the world to embrace the theology and practice of integral mission, and to support them through friendship and signposting good materials.
Gathering, organising and presenting a large range of resources, of different types, and related to different topics and countries is key to making this site work. Plus there were country profiles that needed to be created and maintained with as little effort as possible.
An attractive homepage was needed to highlight important content while being easy to update.
We really pushing the limits of WordPress with this job, implementing a wide variety of custom post types, linking information together and presenting it intelligently, and making life as easy as possible for the curators.
We used a whole load of technical tricks to make this all hang together: custom post types, custom taxonomies, custom widgets, AJAX-powered list filtering, Google Maps, automated location geocoding, RSS Feed importing, a custom feature slider and probably lots of other things we’ve forgotten or take for granted.
Polished off with a custom-written user guide to make training the curators of the site as simple as possible, we hope that the Integral Mission site will serve those interested in the topic for years to come.
